THE INGREDIENT

CANNABIGEROL

The mother cannabinoid.

A name rooted in the plant.
A new perspective on skin care.

Cannabigerol, or CBG, is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid. Its nickname comes from the role of cannabigerolic acid, CBGA, in the plant: CBGA is a starting point for several other cannabinoids, including the precursors of CBD and THC. CBG itself forms from CBGA.

DeMere’s interest is in CBG’s own properties. Our planned formulas pair hemp-derived CBG with nano-liposomal encapsulation for a daily cosmetic skincare ritual.

What drew our attention

Laboratory studies have explored CBG’s antioxidant activity.
Skin comfort
Research has examined inflammatory signals and the response of experimentally irritated skin.
A distinct profile
CBG and CBD have shown different activity in selected laboratory tests, giving formulators a reason to consider each on its own merits.

One published evaluation combined laboratory testing with a small, 20-participant study of a 0.1% CBG serum on experimentally irritated skin. These early findings help explain our interest in the ingredient. Read the published CBG study ↗

The skin barrier.
The delivery approach.

The stratum corneum is the skin’s outermost layer: cells surrounded by lipids that help retain moisture and regulate what passes through. Understanding that barrier is part of designing a topical formula.

THE PROCESS

The development approach includes cold-process emulsification, chosen to limit heat exposure during formulation. Ingredient selection, encapsulation and process design are considered together.
